It feels like FOREVER since I have done a blog post! I am being honest when I say I have missed it a lot. Blogging is actually one of my favorite ways to connect. Thank you so much for being patient while I have ironed out the kinks with my new website, and figured out how to use my new platform!
So, did you notice?! Katie Gallagher Photography has rebranded! This was such an exciting (albeit, challenging) journey for me. For months on end, I knew a rebrand was coming. Today, I want to talk about this journey, and why I decided to rebrand.
It really seems like just yesterday when someone asked for my business card or website, and I had nothing to give them! That was actually early 2016. Although I had already shot multiple weddings, engagement and family sessions, I had no website or even an email addresss dedicated to my business. I knew that it was time to pursue my dream. Everything happened pretty fast. I got a business license, website, and all of these types of things within weeks. I was focused on the actual service of photography. At that time, I had given little thought to what I wanted my logo to look like- the thought of a brand never even crossed my mind! Fast forward two years, I felt uninspired by my logo and website. I didn’t feel I had cohesive brand that reflected who I am.
I asked myself the same question for months on end, “What does Katie Gallagher Photography look and feel like?” When I finally found myself answering the question the same way week after week, and month after month, I knew it was time to rebrand. When I felt I had finally found my unique style and my unique place in the wedding photography market, I knew it was time to create a brand that would reflect that.
So, what do I want Katie Gallagher Photography to feel like? Classic with a clean, and preppy edge. Think old school J. Crew meets Kate Spade. I knew my main color had to be a dark navy. I wanted my secondary color to be a bit more clean and bridal.

When I found Ribbon & Ink, I felt it was a match made in heaven! Katie does artisan branding for creatives (and couples!). As soon as I saw her Avery Fenwick brand, I just fell in love, and knew it was the perfect fit for KGP. She provided me with a customized brand board (below) and much more. It was a seamless process, and I completely recommend her to any creatives considering a re-brand.
As part of the rebrand, I knew I would need updated headshots! This was a really fun part of the process for me. Sarah Street Photography helped me find the perfect location for my branding portraits, and helped me pick out the outfits that would coordinate well with my new brand. I love my new portraits!
But, the rebrand isn’t all about looks! A lot of it has to do with a new focus! KGP has always been about putting clients first, but I wanted to take that focus to the next level. That’s why I re-evaluted every single step of my wedding workflow. I wanted to hone in on my “why” and purpose. Today, Katie Gallagher Photography aims to serve Kentucky brides by truly serving them on their wedding days, and providing them with timeless images they can cherish for years to come! I wrote about my why on my About Me page:
“Marriage is a lifetime decision. It’s about choosing to love your person every single day, no matter what.
The wedding day is just day one of choosing love everyday for the rest of your lifetimes. I want to make that day as memorable and as cherished as possible.”
