Can I just start off by saying what a joyful bride Madeline was? There was a smile on her face the entire day, no matter what was happening!
But, let’s rewind just a little bit! If you kept track of the news at all, you will know that the weekend this sweet couple had their wedding day planned was the same weekend hurricane Florence made an appearance. I can’t even begin to imagine the stress this type of situation can bring to a couple who has been planning an event and perfecting every detail for over a year. I was so thankful we were able to go through with this wedding. The hurricane ended up being a non-event in Williamsburg, Virginia. We were able to do most of the portraits outdoors, in fact! It rained just enough for us to capture some fun portraits with clear umbrellas.
I have to share with you three of my favorite details from the day. Madeline’s wedding dress. Not only did she look stunning in it, but she purchased it from Church Street Bridal, which means the proceeds from her dress go to domestic violence prevention and intervention services. Wow! I wish more brides knew about this, so I’m telling you now! My second favorite detail was the handmade arch Madeline and Jon said their vows underneath. It does NOT look handmade, but I was reassured it was! Jon spent months working on this beautiful piece just for their wedding day. It is gorgeous, and now it is such a special piece they can have for a lifetime! Last but not least, my third favorite detail from this wedding day was the flowers. I LOVED them! But, what makes them even more special, is that Jon’s sister Jamie actually designed them. She did a wonderful job. Such thoughtful details!!
I wish many years of happiness to Madeline & Jon!
