Your wedding invitation is the very first impression you get to make on your guests, and it is also the very first thing I’ll photograph on your wedding day! It’s a key component in making sure your gallery looks tied together and cohesive.
When I send out my pre-wedding questionnaire to my brides around two months before their big day, I request they mail me an invitation to the wedding!
So, why do I have all of my brides mail me a hard copy of their invitation before the wedding day? It accomplishes a few goals all at once!
First, it allows me to see the colors, and style that the couple has chosen. This will allow me to directly choose what styling details such as dishes, ribbons, ring boxes, and mats will work best for the wedding day. It also ensures I have a clean copy of the invitation. As soon as I get the invitation in the mail, I take it out, review, then put it right back in the envelope to keep it nice and clean for the wedding day. If my brides forget to bring an invitation for me to photograph on their wedding day, this acts as my insurance policy!
It’s also helpful to see the dress code, and review the exact details of the day to make sure nothing is amiss.
This small request has saved me a lot of time and has helped me prepare for shooting details!
